• This house is a replica a King’s Palace that features a Queen bed with warm furnishings.
• You will also receive a personalized tour on the history of the King’s Palace and other local traditions from our manager or local guides; your own fire at night inside the palace; and breakfast the next morning in the comfort of the palace grounds (optional).
• They can also add mattresses for larger groups.
• This is perfect for a family of 3 or more with young children who want to stay together.

Prince’s Palace

• This house features a comfortable Double Bed inside.
• Each can accommodate 2 persons.
• They can arrange for a small clay oven fire to keep you extra warm.

Restaurant

The center has chefs with many years of experience and offers simple breakfast, with toast, jam, honey, fruit, coffee or tea; special breakfast with toast, jam, fruit, omelet (vegetarian or Spanish), coffee or tea.

Lunch

Lunch is served anytime between 11: 30 – 1: 30. It will include a soup or salad starter, a main course, a dessert, and a drink of your choice (beer OK, no wine or alcoholic beverage.)

Dinner

All guests are asked to come to the restaurant around 7 pm, and will be served a drink to start (beer OK, wine and alcoholic drinks not included in price.)

Dinner will start around 7:30, and will include an appetizer, a main course, and dessert.  Fridays is the exception: It is pizza night!

Drinks

Fanta, Coca-cola, Krest tonic, Mutzig (petit), Mutzig (Grand), Knowles, Primus (Grand), Turbo (petit), Turbo (Grand), Drostdy-Hof wine (dark red, chardonnay) and South African wine.

Camping Accommodation in Nyungwe Forest National Park

There are a range of campsites in Nyungwe Forest National Park which can ably serve the camping travelers on Rwanda tour.

Uwinka visitor center: Two (2) campsites exist at Uwinka visitor centre and these have showers, tents along with toilet. The water and fire wood can be provided on request.

Mt. Bigugu peak: The Mount Bigugu Campsite is located on the peak of Mount Bigugu with the capacity to serve four (4) people.  The visitors have to carry own water.

Congo-Nile Divide Trail: Congo – Nile Divide trail include three (3) campsites which provides overnight stay for the travelers adventuring along the Congo Nile divide trail.

Wilderness Campsites: The Wilderness Campsites are located in the interior of the Nyungwe forest jungle presenting a close touch with the typical wilderness. The visitors are supposed to carry own tents, sleeping bags, food along with firewood. A park ranger has to be hired for protection.

As the names suggests Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel is built on the top of one of the hills positioning it to have the most beautiful views in the Nyungwe Forest area.

The hotel is located on the vicinity of Nyungwe National Park and it is a good base for trekking chimpanzees and exploring the forest.

Accommodation at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel includes;

• A total of 12 red-brick cottages
• The cottages are ranged in two rows, one on each side of the rondavels, along two sides of the lawn.
• Every cottage houses a bedroom, a small lounge area at the front, with terracotta-tiled floors, a sofa, chair and coffee table, and a fireplace.
• Although the furniture is different in every cottage, it is angular and modern throughout.
• The bedrooms are quite sparse, furnished only with a double, twin or triple beds, a chest of drawers and hanging space for clothes, but they have plenty of space and were spotlessly clean.
• African patterned throws cover the beds and there is traditional Rwandan ‘imigorigo’ artwork on the walls.
• There are no fans or air con but the team here will put hot-water bottles in your beds on cooler nights.
• The tiled bathrooms each have a sink, toilet and shower and some also have baths, with towels and toiletries provided.

Facilities and services at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel include;

Main areas

• Main areas at Nyungwe Top View are housed in a large, two-tiered ‘rondavel’ with a phenomenally high roof.
• Although a rondavel is usually a traditionally built round house, this building offers a rather more modern take on the theme.
• The ground floor, where you will find the reception, is sparsely furnished with a few modern angular sofas and walls adorned with traditional Rwandan murals.
• Circular wicker lights hang from the ceiling and dark tiled stairs lead up to a mezzanine balcony.
• It is on this second level that you will find the dining area, with tables and chairs set on a rather out-of-place black-tiled floor, and a sweeping veranda with wooden tables and chairs.
• The views from here are stunning and on clear days you can even see Lake Kivu and the volcanoes of the Congo beyond.
• There is also a bar on this level made almost entirely from bottle tops, giving it a bright, very kitsch look.
• It really was a piece of art – almost Art Deco.

Food and drink

• Breakfast is served throughout the morning with cereals, fruit and toast available along with fruit juice, and a selection of teas and coffee. Guests may also order a full English breakfast with eggs (at extra cost) cooked to their liking. The hotel can provide a packed breakfast if you are leaving early in the morning.
• Lunch is three courses, from an à la carte menu.
• Dinner is typically served as a buffet, but if there are only a few guests this may be à la carte. The starter is normally soup, with the buffet featuring a range of hot dishes such as meat stews, vegetarian dishes, fish, rice and a selection of vegetables and potatoes.

Power supply notes

• There is a back-up generator in case of emergencies.
• It is possible to charge batteries in the rooms.
• The sockets have two European-style round pins, but the hotel can provide adaptors on request.

Communications

• There is Wi-Fi in the central area, although this can be fairly slow.

Security measures

• There are security guards dotted around the property day and night, and there are safes in half of the cottages.

Laundry facilities

• Laundry is washed and dried by machine, at a small fee.

Previous known as Nyungwe Forest Lodge, it is set in a stunning location, in the Gisakura tea plantation, and directly bordered by Nyungwe Forest.

Designed to fit in with the surrounding environment, the main buildings are constructed of wood, dark slate and terracotta tiles.

Accommodation at One & Only Nyungwe House includes;

• Twenty (20) luxury rooms, situated in five clusters, each containing four rooms
• Each luxury room has either a king-size bed or large twin beds, locally carved wooden furniture and comfortable seats. There is a log burner for cold evenings, an espresso machine and extensive mini-bar.
• Wi-Fi connection, multi-pin plug sockets, an iPad loaded with a huge selection of current newspapers and magazines, and a satellite TV all come as standard. Outside there is a private deck, with views over the forest terrain.
• Directly off the bedroom, but shielded by a folding wooden screen, the en-suite bathrooms have a large bathtub and twin basins, with separate toilet, bidet and shower cubicles set further back. Wooden walkways and stone paths, lit at night, lead from the main building to the rooms.
• There’s also a golf cart on site to assist guests if needed, and to transport luggage to the rooms.

Food and drinks

• The quality and standard of presentation of food at Nyungwe House is incredibly high, and easily matches that of any top city restaurant.
• With advance notice special diets and requests can be catered.
• Breakfast is a light buffet, served early to accommodate those trekking to see the chimpanzees. Guests, who have a more leisurely start, can choose from a selection of hot dishes cooked to order, from the à la carte menu.
• Lunch is typically a set menu consisting of a selection of salads, breads and light fish of meat dishes. Luxury picnic lunches are provided for guests on all-day excursions.
• For Dinner guests can expect a 6 course tasting-menu influenced by the surrounding environment and using local ingredients. This is usually served in the dining room, but alternative locations, such as down by the pool, can be arranged.
